"BALLIN' FOR BUBBLES" MEMORIAL CELEBRITY STREETBALL GAME
"Celebrity Streetballers as Seen on ESPN and the And1 Mixtape Return to Charlottesville"

On Saturday, June 26, 2010, Charlottesville High School will become the battlegrounds for the New Legends of Streetball, as seen on ESPN, And1, and Nike Commercials as they take on the "Ballin’ for Bubbles Squad". On September 19th, 2009 the best of the best in Streetball lore were assembled in the Monticello High School gym playing against the local Virginia All-Stars. The scene was electric, the community was amazed, and the commentator had the crowd in stitches. Then, a young player, not yet 21 years of age, collapsed. The scene turned surreal, he was rushed to the hospital; a vote from the devastated audience was taken and the game continued in the young man's honor after a solemn prayer for his recovery. After the game, the celebrity streetballers went to the hospital where they heard the shocking news of the death of a fellow streetballer, then to the family's home to pay their respects. They vowed to return in his honor.

Now these celebrities are back and they're "BALLIN' FOR BUBBLES." The electrifying, gravity-defying artistry of some of the world's best streetball players is returning to Charlottesville for one night only. Led by the internationally famed "I'll Be Right Back," a streetball legend with blinding speed and mind-boggling ball handling ability will show you why he had received the nickname from the commentators at Rucker Park in Harlem. Last year's New Legends of Streetball game brought city officials and pillars of the community together in support of heart disease, this summer, we remember Martell "Bubbles" Brooks, a young man who was held in high regard by so many; a portion of the proceeds will be donated to his family. The family is appreciative that one of Bubbles’ life long dreams had come true once he stepped on the court and began playing against his childhood idols. "I’ll Be Right Back" was one of his favorite streetballers.

Lifeview Films & Whittfield Entertainment, in collaboration with the Underwood family, are perpetuating the memory of Martell Brooks with the Memorial And1 Game: "BALLIN' FOR BUBBLES." He played well, he played hard, he left it all on the court and he will forever be remembered. Regarding the legends "taking over" the CHS gym, Bubbles' Squadron may have something else to say about that. A team of prior teammates and local all-stars, assembled by honorary coach and father of Martell, Kerry Underwood, they will be defending their home gym and putting on a show of their own in remembrance of their fallen comrade.

Monster dunks, killer cross-overs, music, and lots of fun contests for the kids will be the fare on Saturday June 26 at the Charlottesville High School. Doors open at 7p, Exhibition at 7:30p, and the Main Game at 8p. Tickets are on sale at EcoDry Cleaners (801 West Main St) for a special price of $10 for a limited time. Afterwards, they'll be $12 in advance and $15 at the door.
