Charlottesville is in for another treat in February. A splendid showcase of our region's diverse talent will be on display Sunday, February 28th at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center. A fundraiser for the Black History Month Committee at Charlottesville High School, the "Virginia Got Talent? Pt.2" competition is scheduled to close out an eventful Black History Month in our region. Rock, Gospel and R&B singers, rappers, poets, and musicians will face off for a "winner takes all" cash prize of $500. The second annual "Virginia Got Talent?" Competition is open to all ages and genres of music. "Virginia Got Talent?" seeks to showcase the vast talent in our local community while providing motivation and other opportunities for exposure. Last year, the competitors ranged from a go-go band to gospel singers to a rock band (The Wave), who subsequently prevailed in a tight competition. This year’s judges are Tanisha Thompson, Program Director - WUVA Kiss FM, Brad Savage, Program Director - 106.1FM The Corner, and a guest artist judge. Each performance will be limited to 3-5 minutes and a point will be deducted if your song is not original. The use of profanity will not be allowed and will result in point deductions or a possible disqualification. Advance tickets are $10 and $12 at the door. Call EcoDry Cleaners at 434.244.3791 for more information. Doors open at 6 p.m and show time begins at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center is located at 1400 Melbourne Road in Charlottesville, VA. The event is sponsored in part by Lifeview Fims , Whittfield Entertainment and EcoDry Cleaners. |
