NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock index futures pointed to a higher open on Wednesday, boosted by strong results from farm equipment maker Deere & Co, as investors awaited data on the housing market and industrial production.

Walgreen to buy Duane Reade chain for $1 billion

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Drugstore chain Walgreen Co said on Wednesday it plans to buy New York-based rival Duane Reade from private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners in a deal worth $1.075 billion, including the assumption of Duane Reade's debt.
